• Search engines first look into which websites (i.e. what category of websites) are linking to your site. The linking site is considered an authority in its field by the search engine. So it is important to build back-links from the websites relevant to the content on your site.

• Page Rank (PR) of linking site is a major factor for Google. A high page rank relevant site that links to your website is much better than a low page rank web site.

• Anchor text of each link should contain the primary keywords of the website. Don’t use the same text in the linking anchor text in every site linking to your website.

• It is a significant plus if the page title of the linking website’s page is relevant to your site. That is, it is good if its title contains one of your keywords.

• Other major factor is the type of links, namely reciprocal links or one-way links. The reciprocal link - a mutual link between two websites – may cause negative results because you lose some of your rank to the other website. So make sure that the PR of the linking site is the same or higher that your page. It is much better if you build one way link because you do not lose any of your site’s PR.

• Another off-page optimization factor is the number of inbound and outbound links on the page linking to your website. It is better if the page of linking site contains less number of outbound links, because the linking site may pass you more of its rank.
